Dehumidifiers

Dehumidifiers do NOT kill mold, but they do prevent mold growth by reducing humidity. If you lower the humidity with a dehumidifier to 50% and maintain it there, the mold will become inactive and not get any worse. However, the mold will not die, it will just be inactive and occasionally emit mold spores. For this reason, it would be very beneficial to your health to have DMC Environmental clean up the mold growth with our proven mold removal methods.

Drainage Systems

Without gutters, rainwater collects at the foundation and eventually ends up in the crawlspace or basement. It's the first step to check when resolving moisture issues in the home. Homeowners should keep gutters clean and make sure that gutters and downspouts direct water a safe distance away from the house. Vapor Barrier

If your house has a crawlspace it needs to be checked periodically to make sure it stays dry. Once any moisture issues have been eliminated, and the Vapor Barrier installation procedure has been completed, mold should no longer be an issue in your crawlspace. An added benefit of encapsulating your crawlspace, it keeps the crawlspace conditioned with your house air and you don’t have to worry about freezing water pipes during the winter. Humidity can be reduced and controled by the use of a dehumidifier.
